Permanent Hair Color Gray Hair:
For the best coverage of gray hair, we recommend using natural colors, the pure colors without dots or numbers behind them.
A permanent hair color is used to open the hair shaft, the higher the strength of h2o2, the more the hair is opened. It is the combination of which hair color and strength of h2o2 determines the result. If you choose a very light shade of color, but a weak strength of h2o2, the color will not be lighter than h2o2 can lighten the hair. Our h2o2 contains care ingredients and is therefore a little weaker in strength than others. It is often wise to go up a notch if you want to cover gray or want a lighter result.
You should always use a cooler shade at the base of the scalp as this hair always attracts more warm pigments. Lengths and ends always attract more cold pigments. The drier/porous the hair is, the more color it attracts. If you want an even color throughout the hair, you should use a darker and cooler color at the base of the scalp and a lighter and warmer color in the lengths. For example, use no. 9 + no. 9.3 at the base of the scalp and only no. 9.3 in the lengths for a natural result.
So here you can combine based on whatever result you want.
Here you will find an explanation of the different colors. A natural color is a color that does not contain a dot and numbers behind it. This will always cover gray hair better and provide better durability. A reflective color is a color that has numbers behind the dot in cold or warm shades. Lengths and ends always attract more color and therefore we recommend a lighter shade in the lengths for an even result from root to tip.

There is a big difference between coloring uncolored hair and hair that has already been treated.
Uncolored hair needs more pigment, i.e. a darker color and a longer exposure time than already treated hair. The main reason for this is that treated hair is already open so the pigments are absorbed into the hair faster. While uncolored hair needs time to open. Already colored/lightened hair will therefore always be darker than uncolored hair if you use the same hair color and the same exposure time on the entire hair.
Covering gray hair:
It is important to ONLY apply the color to the regrowth from the start, virgin hair needs a much longer working time to bond than hair that has been colored before. Color on top of color will always give a darker result than color on top of virgin hair. If you want to extract the color from already colored hair, do this towards the end of the working time or simply foam it up while rinsing. For better coverage, the working time can be extended to 45 minutes. Start applying where you have the most gray hair.
It is always important to use natural color in the regrowth that will cover the gray hairs. These colors are double pigmented, therefore a better coverage.
Mixing ratio:
Small:H2O2 (60ml) + 2 x Mix for regrowth.
Procedure:
Always start application in the regrowth where you have the most gray and finish at the back of the neck. If you want a refresh in the lengths, we recommend that you only lather the color in the lengths during rinsing, or that you extract the color in the lengths during the last 5 minutes of the working time. This is past the lengths and ends are drier and absorb much more color and can then become much darker.
Operating time:
35 - 45 minutes from the time you finish applying.
Flushing:
Rinse well after a color treatment. Wash your hair twice and finish with a good conditioner or hair treatment. Instructions for use hair dye can be found here
Tip:
If you want better coverage, you can use a stain. You can read more about this here:
We also recommend using our SKIN oil, which is applied around the hairline from the start, so that the color does not stick to the skin.
