Virgin hair always needs a much longer exposure time than hair that has already been colored. Color on top of already colored hair will always be darker than where the hair is virgin. If you have uncolored hair, it will also look more natural if you let the color work longer at the bottom to get a little extra depth here.

If you want to extract the color from already colored hair, do this towards the end of the working time or simply foam it up while rinsing. For better coverage, the working time can be extended to 45-50 minutes. Start applying where you have the most gray hair.
